Overview of Wired & Wireless
Gold Coast Institute of TAFE has established a Wired & Wireless WiFi network that provides access to the Education network using personal computers at the Ashmore campus.
Students will benefit considerably from more flexible, mobile access to TAFE IT resources from their own personal computers at the Ashmore campus.
Connectivity is provided to authorised clients to both the existing Wired Local Area Networks (LANs) and new Wireless WiFi LANs (WLANs). The services available are limited to web-enabled intranet applications, the Internet, network files, Moodle and printers.
At the Ashmore campus access to the TAFE network is at the following three locations:
- seven wired ports enabled in Block 'A' Learn Centre
- wireless access enabled in Block 'C' Gymnasium
- wireless access enabled in Block 'A' Courtyard and Canteen area
Students who have difficulties using "privately owned computers" on the Education network will need to refer to the user guide [PDF 1.01mb] for assistance.
Wireless and wired connectivity for the following devices is not available:
- Apple Macintosh devices
- PDA devices
- Microsoft Windows Vista computers
