International student fees are paid prior to the commencement of the course. The initial payment of fees will vary depending on the course length. English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students (ELICOS)/English Language Programs for International Students (ELPIS) fees are paid in full prior to commencement of study, whereas Certificate and Diploma (Formal) courses are charged per semester. Please contact the International Student Centre for further information.
Visa procedures
If you wish to study for longer than 12 weeks, you will require a Student Visa.
You can now apply online for a student visa whether you are inside or outside of Australia.

Further information about visas is available from the Australian Embassy, High Commission or Consulate General in your country. Contact details for immigration offices in and outside of Australia are available on the Contact us page of the Australian Government Department of Immigration and Citizenship website.
Medical insurance and facilities
Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) is compulsory for all international students on Student Visas. If you are travelling on a different visa, we recommend you purchase travel insurance or private medical insurance. The Gold Coast has State Government hospitals and a variety of private hospitals available. Specialist care is plentiful ranging from dental and optical to general practitioners.
Working while you study
International students may work up to 20 hours per week. If you would like to work while you are here, you will be able to apply for permission to work after commencing your course. Find out how to apply online by going to the Online Services-Students page of the Australian Government Department of Immigration and Citizenship website.
Skills recognition and migration
Study can be a great way to earn additional points to assist with your Permanent Residency application. Certain professions have been identified as a shortage within the workforce in Australia and you may be able to gain additional points by completing training in these areas.
Contact the International Student Centre for further information on available programs.
Please Note: The Skilled Occupations List (SOL) and Migration On Demand List (MODL) are the responsibility of the Australian Government. They are subject to change and there is no guarantee that the occupations listed on either will be available when you complete your program. Students should regularly check the Australian Government Department of Immigration and Citizenship web site for current information on skilled migration and other visa categories.
