Apprenticeships and traineeships

Want a hands-on and practical qualification?  Need more job skills?  Thinking about a career change?

Enjoy the benefits when you do an apprenticeship or traineeship.

Make money while you learn new skills and knowledge.  Increase your long-term potential for employment. Enjoy a probation period of 30-90 days to make sure you have made the right decision. And when you've completed your training, travel while your skills earn you money.

"Gold Coast Institute of TAFE has been a fantastic, convenient and flexible option for me. I have been able to work through the theory at my own pace, and haven't been held up by slower learners. We have access to teachers in the computer lab if we need them, but I have been able to do my study without too much guidance from the teachers. I think this self-paced computer study is the way of future and more people should be introduced to this."  Steven Boyett - Apprentice

Apprenticeship and traineeships

When you do an apprenticeship or traineeship you can work and earn money while training towards a nationally recognised qualification. An apprenticeship or traineeship can take twelve months to four years to complete.  The Queensland Government has created an internet gateway site on the existing Apprenticeships Info website to assist with providing apprenticeships information.

School students

Gain a qualification while you finish high school. Increase your job opportunities and complete an apprenticeship or traineeship through Gold Coast Institute of TAFE.

When you complete an apprenticeship or traineeship while you're still at school, you can gain credit points towards your Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE). Ask your school guidance officer for more information.

If you are already working part-time and like your job, why not ask your employer to consider putting you through a part-time apprenticeship or traineeship with Gold Coast Institute of TAFE.

If you are interested in a particular industry, why not arrange work experience through your school guidance officer or VET coordinator?  If you enjoy the work experience and gain employment in the industry, check with your employer to see if they might put you through a part-time apprenticeship or traineeship with Gold Coast Institute of TAFE.

TIP: Group training companies such as On Q, Group Training Australia Gold Coast, Biga, Electrogroup and All Trades Brisbane can assist you with completing an apprenticeship while you're still at school.  SCISCO, amongst many other support services they offer school students, also coordinates school-based apprenticeships.

Ask your school guidance officer or VET coordinator for more information on completing an apprenticeship and traineeship through Gold Coast Institute of TAFE.
