Standards and Legislation

GCIT is required to comply with several legislative requirements and quality management standards. The following table lists many of the applicable standards and legislation (with associated links) as well as a brief overview of each. The legislative requirements and standards are also integrated within GCIT's Planning Framework and GCIT's learning resources. Compliance with these legislation and standards are monitored within GCIT.

AS/NZS ISO 9001:2008
Australian and New Zealand International Organisation for Standardisation Standard 9001: 2008 Quality Management Systems

This is a quality management system standard incorporating a system of processes within an organisation to continually improve its effectiveness.  This standard can be used by internal and external parties to assess the organisation's ability to meet customer, regulatory and its own requirements.

AVETMISS
The Australian Vocational Education and Training Management Information and Statistical Standard.

AVETMISS Provides a national framework for the consistent collection and dissemination of vocational education and training information throughout Australia. AVETMISS applies to the apprentice and trainee collection which provides information on all persons employed under a training contract and includes both apprentices and trainees.

National Code of Practice for Registration Authorities and Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students (The National Code 2007)

The National Code is a set of nationally consistent standards that governs the protection of overseas students and delivery of courses to those students by providers registered on CRICOS - the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students. Only CRICOS courses can be offered to international students studying in Australia on a student visa.
